About the Composer
Alexander Stix-Brunell is a classically trained composer who specializes in music for film. He attended Mannes College The New School for Music, the Pre-College Division, in New York City, where he studied composition under Noam Sivan and piano under Yuri Kim.
Alex has composed performance pieces for piano, violin, and cello. He has also written original compositions for choreographers including "Troubled Woman" (choreographed by Fabrice Herraut), and "Vortice" a hip-hop piece (choreographed by Jonathan Lee). Other notable compositions and recordings include La Vie Vitreuse (piano), Sado (piano and tenor), and Moon River Fantasia (piano and violin). Some of his favorite film composers are Ryuichi Sakamoto, Alexandre Desplat, Ennio Morricone, and Alberto Iglesias. Alex currently attends Brown University and is studying composition under Gerald Shapiro. For the past two years, however, he studied composition under Vineet Shende at Bowdoin College. His permanent residence is in New York City.
